When I put Lea Gilmore's CD on, my first reaction was to call friends to share it with them. This
CD took hold of me and shook me awake.
Her voice has a majestic power to it that conveys a strong sense of meaning to her songs. The
selection of songs offer an indication of the range of her talents. From the original title song "I
Don't Know Where You Are" to Sippie Wallace's "Women Be Wise", Gilmore put her stamp, more
importantly her soul into these songs.  She is backed by a crew of musicians that let her shine
and have the ability to hold their own when required.

"When Lea Gilmore sings the Blues, she tells the truth. She belongs to the old school of moaners,
shouters and wailers. She doesn't just entertain. She takes over the stage, plants her feet, puts her
hands on her hips, opens her mouth and lets fly the ancient magic of Blues women like Sippie
Wallace, Bertha Chippie Hill and Ma Rainey. Lea makes this old music new again. She doesn't just
sing you the song. She tells you the story."
