Welcome to the part of the web site where I just say what is on my often way too active mind. Consider this a sorta blog like thang, but the entries may be one line or 500 -- I love this web freedom stuff. ;)

OK, so it is a bit nuts that I have not written anything in this space of mine for over six months. The last
thing I wrote was about how thrilled I was that Barack won Iowa in JANUARY - look at him now!! He is the
first ever ever ever ever African American to get the nomination for a major party to be President of the
United States. But more than that, he will be a president for ALL Americans . He is about hope, change,
the future -- and yes my friends, we need some HOPE. He is much more than a "first" for a future history
lesson, but a man who embodies what we need in a president: intelligence and compassion. Of course
he is a politician, but hell, they all are. Please vote. Let me say that again - vote.
Love you,
Lea

Happy New Year to all! What a historic evening January 3 was for all Americans...for all citizens that love
inclusion and democracy. Barack Obama WON the Iowa caucuses in a state that is overwhelmingly
white (93%), and has never elected an African American to office. We have looked beyond our traditional
boundaries and have sent out a message of unification and HOPE. Even if Barack does not win the
presidency, we have won a great victory. This rural, small and provincial part of America has shown that
when we stick together for a common goal, change is truly possible. YES!

Well, 2007 was some year! There was so much that happened (full of joy and things not so joyous) that it
would be impossible (or maybe I am just too lazy?) to recount. I can tell you what I learned this past year:
- Family and friends should never be taken for granted. I always knew this, but many life events brought
this home for me this past year
- If you are unhappy, be proactive in making change. You are the only one who can change you
- Tells those whom you love "I Love you" -- tell them often and add a hug in there as well
- If you make a new year's resolution and break it, so what.
- Dance! Sing! Shout!
- If disappointment finds you...accept it and promise yourself you will move on
- Never let anyone define you -- you be the fabulous and talented you you were always meant to be
- Let's all make sure we hang out with folks that make us laugh; and don't hang out with folks that make
us cry
- Go to beautiful places...
I wish all of you reading these thoughts a wondrous new year!
Much Love,
Lea

We send our prayers to the friends and family of the many victims of the senseless mass shooting at
Virginia Technical University. The tragedy boggles the mind. I am often shocked by how cruel we can be
to one another, and then I am often uplifted by the level of love we can show as well.
Much Love,
Lea

I am wishing everyone a happy, healthy and laughter filled 2007! We have so many cool things coming
up this year -- new concerts, new recordings and on and on. I hope to see you soon!
Love ya much,
Lea

I had a wonderful Thanksgiving! It was a time that we were able to just thank God for our family...my
husband (who had a year of illness, but has recovered well), children, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws...
It was also a time that I could remember my parents and grandparents, godmother and so many who
have gone to be with God.
I LOVE THE HOLIDAY SEASON!! All of my friends and family know that this is "my " time of year. The joy
that is in the air is contagious - and we could all use some. It is also a time to remember those who are
ravaged by war, loss, poverty and more. We must continue to make efforts to make this a world that ALL
of us live in with the same rights and access. John Lennon said so well "Imagine..."
I am leaving today for Belgium where we will do 11 sold out "Gospels for Life" concerts for the Damien
Foundation. How cool is it to combine the joy and hope of Gospel music and raise money to help those
that the world often forgets.
To the people in Wallonie: thanks so much for the many emails. I'll see you soon!
So, take care of yourselves.
Love Always,
Lea

I would like to thank the wonderful people of Flanders Belgium for making the concerts a fantastic
experience for me, and mostly for supporting the important work of the Damien Foundation. A BIG
THANK YOU to all of the choir members. You sang from your hearts and souls!!
Merci Beacoup to the fun and big hearted folks at Blues Sur Seine. On behalf of pianist Eric Byrd, and
Tour Manager Eric Jansen ("My two Erics" :)) we thank you for a wonderful experience. I will never forget
singing in Poissy Jail, for the immigrant women , the high school kids, and with the wonderful choir at the
Mantes La Jolie Cathedral - wow! We felt very welcomed in France.
Wallonie, Belgium, we will see you in a couple weeks (just when I get over the jet lag!). All of the concerts
are sold out!
God Bless All of You....
Love always,
Lea

Happy Monday to all! Things are very busy in my world. Life continues to be nonstop. My son Gabriel (15)
was chosen as one of the few students in his high school to study abroad next year. Very nice stuff.
That's about it for now!

Lea

Well, I am very proud of myself. I have actually typed more than one entry within a week! I'm on a roll
here. :)
I received an Ipod for my birthday last month. I am now addicted! As soon as I get off of this PC, I'm going
to go and see about buying an adapter for my car so I can listen to all 110 songs I have downloaded. And
just think, there is room for lots more! I am driving David crazy with it all, but hey, he bought it and he
knows how I am about gadgets and music -- with an Ipod, you get both at once! Actually any mp3 player
will work.
I had a great time singing at the Center Stage Theatre's "Backstage" fair. The weather was a mess, but
things were moved inside and a good time was had by all. It was nice to see friends and new friends
having such a good time on a rainy Saturday.
Till the next time...
Love,
Lea

I had a great time this past Sunday speaking at the Towson Unitarian Universalist Church! It is not often
I am honored to give a Sunday morning sermon, so thanks and many peace and blessings to you. Plus,
I look forward to hearing that wonderful choir sing a few gospel songs. :-)
I am deeply troubled by the senseless deaths of the five Amish girls. In fact, by all of the senseless
deaths we hear about everyday all over the world. My prayers for peace will continue, and I fight
discouragement. Hope is cool thing.
On a much lighter note...what is up with the weather here? It is like way hot! I mean , I am not
complaining (brilliant sunshine and warm temps in October are a wonderful thing), but I must admit it is a
little weird. I have new boots that I want to wear and not look nutso because it is 85 degrees. ;)
I am so thrilled by the amount of folks that have been reading my web site! Wow...thanks much and come
back. I am going to try and keep writing updates in this space of mine.
My son Jonathan is a wonderful singer! Did you know that he played the role of The Lion in "The Wiz" not
too long ago? Well, he will be auditioning for AMDA next month in New York City! I'll keep you posted.
Jonathan also does the Open Mic at a place in Downtown Baltimore called "Organic Soul." He loves
music and has the most eclectic collection. My youngest son Gabriel is a very nice 15 year old (to all the
parents out there, you know how big that can be!!). He is getting so tall...doing well in school...and still
likes hanging out with his old mom. Music? "Well, it's OK mom"...;-) He likes video games...I mean
_really_ likes video games.
Does anyone else really find that guy who plays Snape in "Harry Potter" kinda hunky? Man, did I just say
"hunky"? Time to stop now...
Till the next time!
Love,
Lea

Well, it feels like it has been a gazillion years since I posted a note! Today is the first day of Fall and
three days from my birthday. I love the fall...the leaves...the apples...the cool'ish weather. I am not one for
heat and humidity, but you know here in Maryland we have a lot of both! This is why I like to travel to
Europe in the summer, but it sure seems like continental Europe is getting warmer and warmer.
Speaking of Europe...
I will be there soon for a series of gospel concerts in Belgium and France (gospel and blues). I am
looking forward to it! I am always so happy about how well our music is received and the joy it brings. I
LOVE Belgium (hello to all my Belgian friends!) and always feel at home when I am there. This year, I
have promised myself to eat just a little bit less of the Belgian frites...mmmmm so good. :) Thank
goodness I don't like beer - but that is blasphemy there! ;-)
A little secret about me: I really don't like to fly! But that seems to be what I do so many times in the year. I
am very much hoping that Star Trek technology becomes a real thing soon, so I can just be beamed up to
Rome from Baltimore in about five seconds. Plus, it is just so boring!! If I were the goddess of the
universe, I would also get rid of all turbulence. But alas, I have yet to find my super powers.
We are very excited about a show we will be doing March called "Lea Gilmore - The Moody Woman Tour!"
Yeah, kinda wild, huh? ;) It will be based on my crazy life and featuring the music of Nina Simone. I can't
wait. It will be March 10 and 11 at The Creative Alliance.
I have been writing some songs too. I look forward to sharing those soon. I need a muse! If anyone
would like to volunteer, just email me. ; ) So often, my brain just seems fried.
In brief:
So cool that Spain decided that "too skinny" actually really does exist!
I'm waiting for some new folks to be elected in our government....the current one? One big "YIKES!
I have started eating more organic foods. I am secretly very proud of myself.
Man oh man, I am so sick of so-called Reality TV!! Will it ever end? Another secret? I wish I were a writer
for The Simpsons :)
You know, I'm still waiting to get depressed about getting older - it sure hasn't happened yet.
My goal in life at this moment - finding a pair of jeans that _really_ fit. Yes, we plus-size gals look for that
"perfect pair" as well, but god knows it gets even more complicated when your rear is "significant" :)
I'm currently in love with boots...oh yeah, and could someone tell me where I can get a good pair of
walking shoes that doesn't make me need to take out a mortgage to buy them??
Till the next time...
Love,
Lea

Thank you to the wonderful students and faculty at MERCY HIGH SCHOOL - my alma mater (1983). I
gave a concert this past Friday the 24th and it was such a joy! I hope to get back soon. Love to all of you!

Wow. I wish I was more disciplined at this message board thing. But, I promise I will try and be better.
There has been so much happening. My husband David is getting surgery on May 8, so please keep him
in your prayers. It is a tough time, but our faith and positivity is flowing! I will be taking a break from
performing this spring (except for small gigs here and there), but will be back in force in late summer and
fall. Now, I devote my time and energy to my family.
It is SO COOL hearing from those who have attended concerts in Europe! My heart has also been
warmed by the many many emails from Cameroon where we haver been on their national tv. I hope that
one day I will be able to meet all of you in person (and maybe even learn some French in the process)>
:-)
Peace, Love and Blessings!

Well, great news - David's surgery was a success!! It was loooong and scary, but good news in the end.
He will have a long period of treatment, but we thank and trust God. I am busy taking care of him and
catching up on the gazillion emails I have let lay in my in-box. Thank you so much for all of the cards,
letters, emails, phone calls, flowers, balloons and more! David is so appreciative and so am I and our
two sons.
Gonna go now and do some domestic stuff...yes, singers wash clothes too...:-)
Love all of you!
